The Artist · Mad Mats

Meet Meg Britten.

Meg Britten designed Mad 4 Mahj’s debut collection: mahjong mats featuring her original artwork, made to be played on for game night and beautiful enough to be framed on the wall between games.

A Tampa-based fine artist, Meg has spent the last eight years capturing the Tampa Bay area on canvas, and Mad Mats gave her a reason to revisit that body of work and see it in a whole new way. She layers pattern, color and border until each piece feels just right, and tucks small illustrated “treasures” into the artwork for players to spot mid-game.

“Being an artist takes a touch of madness and fearless abandon with your ideas. The moment I heard Mad 4 Mahj’s mantra, I wanted in.”

The Story · From Amy

Started by a player. Built for the artists.

I picked up mahjong in the spring of 2025 and fell hard. One thing nagged at me: the tiles never matched my style. I wanted pieces that felt like art, the kind you’d leave out just to admire, and they simply didn’t exist.

So I did something a little mad. I reached out to artists whose work deserved a place at the game table. Tampa artist Meg Britten said yes. Our first collection of Mad Mats is Meg’s original artwork, and I think you’ll fall for it as hard as I did.

I’m not an artist; I’m the collector who champions them. Mad 4 Mahj exists to put extraordinary artists’ work on the table, where it’s seen, used, and passed down. We don’t want to look like every other mahjong brand. We want to make the piece you can’t decide where to put: on the table for game night, or on the wall between games.

Thank you for joining me on this beautifully mad journey. It takes four to play mahjong, and I’m so glad you pulled up a chair.

Madly,
Love, Amy
